A Glorious Moment of CGU: A Special Lectureship by Academician of the Academia Sinica, Prof. Fu-Chan Wei

         Prof. Wei was elected by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) as one of the world's 20 most innovative and influential surgeons in the past 400 years. While most of the finalized nominees had already passed away, Prof. Wei is the only Asian representative that has been selected.

         Prof. Wei’s academic research achievements are very impressive. He has published more than 500 international journal papers, 114 chapters of international medical textbooks, and edited 18 English surgery textbooks so far. In 2009, Prof. Wei and Dr. Samir Mardini co-wrote the book entitled "Flaps and Reconstructive Surgery" (published by Elsevier, reprinted in 2016), is recognized as one of the best textbooks in the microsurgical field and has been translated into Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese versions. The second edition of the book was just selected as the "2017 BMA Medical Book Award" in the global surgery field.

         From 1993 to 1999, Prof. Wei was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, and also served on the editorial board of nine other international academic journals. To express recognition of the past 30 years of contribution and pioneering leadership in the microsurgery field of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and Chang Gung University, and his great contribution to the microsurgery field, the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery has announced the establishment of the Fu-Chan Wei Lectureship in the name of him. This is the first time when a lectureship is established by using lecture’s name since the society’s establishment in 2001. Therefore, it can be seen that Prof. Wei's academic contribution in microsurgery field is well respected and honoured by the peers, lecturers and scholars.
