President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Visited Taiwan, Sharing the Experience of Running the Elite University
 

Dr. L. Rafael Reif, president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, headed a delegation visiting Taiwan on the 12th of November 2014. There was a welcome banquet in their honor at the Taipei World Trade Center Club that was hosted by Prof. Ding-Yi Yang, chairman of the boards of Chang Gung University, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, and Ming Chi University of Technology, along with the presidents and the deans of the three universities, and the managers of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Reif is a world-renowned electrical engineering scholar. He previously served as the Institute's provost, as the director of the MIT Microsystems Technology Laboratories, and as the head of MIT's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In 2012, Dr. Reif was elected the president of MIT. During this visit with Prof. Ding-Yi Yang, Dr. Reif discussed university development strategies and matters concerning collegial cooperation. At the banquet, Dr. Reif shared his views of research and teaching with the senior academic administrators of the universities, and discussed medical care service with the managers of the hospital.

 

At the banquet, Dr. Reif also shared his thoughts on the policies and implementation of MIT’s innovation, development, and sustainable operation. In the end, Dr. Reif expressed his thankfulness for such a wonderful opportunity to exchange views with several of Taiwan’s leading experts and scholars in medical care and education.
