Information Session for Prospective Students of the 2020 International Program of Health Informatics and Management
Office of International Affairs, College of Management
In line with the development trend of health information science, the College of Management of Chang Gung University established the "International Program of Health Informatics and Management" in 2019. To cultivate interdisciplinary elites, our main objective of this program is to foster and nurture "Health Informatics" talents with health, information and management knowledge and skills.
To encourage students to actively participate in the program, we held an information session for prospective students on the 18th of June 2020 in the meeting room on the 7th floor of the Management Building. This program recruits transfer students from the College of Medicine, the College of Engineering, and the College of Management. A specially arranged speech on "Innovative Application and Development of Medical Care Information System" was also held on the same day. It was a great honour and pleasure to invite Mr. Chia-Ping Shen, CEO of Noark Technology Co., Ltd. as the speaker. After the speech, we interviewed Ms Kai-Rou Xia, a sophomore student of the program. After a year of study, she reckoned that the bachelor’s degree program integrated three fields: medical care (data), information technology, and management. Through the courses of Medical Information and Introduction to Management, she had a clearer understanding of the concepts between medical care and information analysis, as well as data analysis and health management application. Furthermore, she understood more about the combination of medical care and information, such as smart health management systems, smart panels and other practical applications in many markets. This may enable Ms Xia to explore future development and pathway through the knowledge and skills she has acquired through the program.
This program encourages students to pursue a double major or study this program as a minor. Students could combine the knowledge and skills learned in various fields to enhance their value and competitiveness in society. They may also go overseas to become an exchange student for one semester or one year to obtain the bachelor's degree in their fourth year in a partner university, or obtain a master's degree from a partner university through a dual-degree program. Scholarships up to a maximum of NT$300,000 will be awarded to students with academic merits to study overseas. Our prestigious partner universities included Saint Louis University, University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Seijo University, and National University of Singapore, etc.
In addition to providing information for prospective students, we also offer many summer internship opportunities. We have cooperated with the National Health Insurance Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare to recruit students for summer internships. The list of accepted students has been announced recently. In the future, we will continue to cooperate with government offices or private organizations to provide more internship opportunities. Students are welcome to participate.
