Memorandum of Cooperation Signed between the College of Management of Chang Gung University and Saint Louis University for Academic Exchange

College of Management

In order to actively expand partnership for international exchange, the College of Management of Chang Gung University signed a memorandum of cooperation with Saint Louis University (SLU) for academic exchange on May 22, 2019. The College of Management of Chang Gung University said that the education and research of SLU were one of the best, and it was ranked among the top 100 in America. In the future, both sides intend to promote a substantial cooperation programme, including student exchange, grooming of talent, short-term courses, collaborative research, etc. We hope to enhance the internationalization of the College of Management and benefit the students.

The signing ceremony was held in the conference room of the First Medical Science Building. The representatives of SLU were Prof. Michael Counte and General Director of SLU Alumni, Zeng-Er Zhang. CGU Vice President Prof. Jan-Kan Chen, Vice President Prof. Kuang-Hung Hsu, Dean of the College of Management Prof. Dah-Chuan Gong, Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Pin Ouyang, Deputy Director of the Center for International Academic Cooperation Prof. Sebastian D. Fugmann and several teachers from Chang Gung University attended the signing ceremony. The signing representatives of the two parties were Vice President Prof. Chen and Prof. Michael Counte.

The ceremony was first started with a welcome speech by Vice President Prof. Chen. He stated that the university was going to form the College of International Management, which would soon work closely with the College of Management of SLU to exchange teachers and students. Dean of the College of Management Prof. Gong not only introduced the bachelor’s degree program of the College of International Health Management soon to be established at Chang Gung University, but he also shared the efforts made by the College of Management in order to achieve the AACSB accreditation. Foreign guests thus could fully understand the teaching philosophy and future policies of the College of Management. After that, Prof. Michael Counte also briefly introduced the SLU, so the participants had a better understanding about the operations of the SLU and the content of its certified courses.

In addition, in order to cope with the impact of the National Health Insurance policy modification and to enhance the synchronization of local and international healthcare management, SLU will bring to Taiwan a Global Certification Program in Advanced Health Care Quality and Safety. The target students to be recruited are intermediate managerial staff and senior managers of hospitals.  Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded with an official certificate of completion. In the future, they can have short-term healthcare management internships in the SLU hospital. The College of Management will further discuss with SLU the possibility of cooperation for related courses.
