In order to enrich the cultural and art resources and expand the reading and listening media facilities, the Audio-visual Center purchased a new "VR Unbounded Museum" in the 109th academic year. With the help of virtual reality headsets, we could bring you the classics and gorgeous exhibitions of the National Palace Museum in a three-dimensional interactive vision mode.  Furthermore, with the help of simulation technology, viewers could travel into the paintings, experience the marketplace and the street themselves, shorten the distance with historical relics, and enjoy the classic works of art to the fullest. Without paying a personal visit to the Forbidden City, viewers could also get a glimpse of the beauty of the national treasures of the Forbidden City.

The National Palace Museum has a collection of nearly 700,000 pieces of art. The cultural relics date back to the Neolithic Age, and it is 8,000 years away from now. Due to the limitation of exhibition space and the maintenance of cultural relics, the display can only be on a rotating basis. There are approximately 5,000 pieces of art on display for visitors. It may take several years for certain classic cultural relics to have the opportunity to be publicly presented. The National Palace Museum combines arts and technology, and through the virtual reality technology, viewers could immerse themselves in the exclusive art space without traveling all the way and viewing the artwork in a crowded space with other people. With on-demand commentary and magnified viewing, you could watch the close up of cultural relics, and savor the special features at your own pace. The "VR Unbounded Museum" selects 20 groups of popular classic cultural relics, including: "Portrayals from a Brush Divine: A Special Exhibition on the Tricentennial of Giuseppe Castiglione's Arrival in China", "A Gem of Chinese Painting: The Qing Court Handscroll of Up the River During Qingming", "A Thousand, Thousand Churning Waves: The Legendary Red Cliff Heritage", "Flights of Fragrance at a Fingertip: The World of Birds and Flowers in Painting, Tapestry, and Embroidery", and so on. Please refer to the library website for the detailed contents.

In order to maintain the quality, safety and sanitation of the equipment, the borrowing time is from 9:00 to 16:00 between Monday and Friday. Borrowers are requested to follow the instructions and use the equipment only at the designated seats in the Audio-visual Center of the Library. After the equipment is returned, the library will wipe it with alcohol and disinfect it with a UV sterilizer every week. Please use it with peace of mind.

Are you ready to indulge in the hall of arts and cultural relics? Welcome to the Audio-visual Center of the Library to experience the charm of arts through virtual reality.
